My Professional Me, Briefly
I am a professional writing specialist — a teacher, scholar, and researcher in the area of rhetoric, business and technical communication, and digital writing. My particular specialties include:
• Rhetoric theory and history (especially modern and postmodern theories, critical methodology, ethics, Internet research ethics, invention, audience, delivery, intellectual property, and economics)
• Digital rhetoric (rhetoric theory for digital writing, Internet research ethics and methodology, law and public policy, classroom design, intellectual property)
• Business and technical communication, including mentoring new teachers
I have been a faculty member at Michigan State University since 2001. From 2001 to 2005 I served as Director of the graduate program in Rhetoric & Writing, and since 2003 I have been a Co-Director of the WIDE Research Center. Since 2007 I have served as a committee member of SIRB — the IRB committee that reviews research in the social sciences and education. |
