Michigan State University will host the 2009 Feminisms and Rhetorics Conference. Known internationally as a major U.S. public university with global reach, Michigan State University (MSU) has been advancing knowledge and transforming lives through innovative teaching, research, and outreach for over 150 years. MSU is a member of the Association of American Universities, the National Association of State Universities and Land-Grant Colleges, and the Big Ten athletic conference.

MSU's Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement was recently awarded the 2008 Presidential Award for General Community Service, becoming one of only 18 colleges and universities—and the first in Michigan—to win a presidential award since it was launched in 2006.

FemRhet 2009 attendees will be staying in the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center, located on the MSU campus. The Kellogg Center will also house the FemRhet 2009 Conference presentations and activities.

MSU's campus spans 5,200 acres. During October, the trees will be a dazzling array of reds and golds indicative of the Midwest region. Home to the W.J. Beal Botanical Garden, an outdoor laboratory for the study and appreciation of plants, FemRhet attendees can enjoy the 2000 different taxa which can be found throughout the campus.
